ACT Lawrence is honored at Eastern Bank’s 12th annual Community Quarterback Celebration
Boston, MA – On June 1st, ACT Lawrence attended Eastern Bank’s 12th annual Community Quarterback Celebration, where they were recognized as a “Community Quarterback” due to their unwavering commitment to serving and improving their local community. ACT was one of 45 non-profits honored at the ceremony, all of which received a grant from the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation.
At the ceremony, formal NFL quarterback Doug Flutie tossed autographed footballs to a representative of each nonprofit in attendance, as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication to their causes.
Special guest Karina Smirnoff from the hit television show Dancing with the Stars and Eastern Bank CEO Rich Holbrook took the stage with a dance number, and the event concluded with a farewell speech from Holbrook on behalf of the Charitable Foundation, which awarded $600,000 in grant money to the 45 non-profits in attendance.
ACT Lawrence remarked that the organization is grateful for the grant money it received.
“Thanks to Eastern Bank Foundation’s support, we were able to expand our financial coaching program to coach low-income families through the use of group workshops, web based education and individualized coaching” said Ana Luna, Executive Director of ACT Lawrence.
Financial coaching is just one of the remarkable services that ACT provides for the low-income families of Lawrence, and the development and expansion of this program has already served to assist hundreds.
According to Luna, ACT is always actively seeking new ways that it can expand and further its impact within Lawrence. While Eastern Bank has assisted with one dream, ACT Lawrence is still working to secure and develop the resources necessary to expand its other programs, as well as create some new ones.
